New York State requires you to:
• Hold a valid NYS learner permit with your photo
• Be at least 16 years old

You must bring your photo learner permit (or follow the online instructions if you’re taking the class remotely) so we can issue your MV-278 course completion certificate.

Yes. All new drivers must either complete a DMV-approved 5 Hour Pre-Licensing Course or a full Driver Education program before scheduling their first road test. The DMV will not let you test without a valid course completion on file.

That depends on your age, schedule, and comfort level. Many Staten Island students complete their lessons, 5 Hour Class, and road test within a few months. Drivers under 18 must also meet New York’s supervised driving requirements before testing.

Yes. We offer a car-for-road-test service that includes pickup, warm-up time, and drop-off after your test. It’s available with most lesson packages.
